Results
The length of time a dermal filler treatment will last, varies with each individual. It depends on many factors, such as the structure of the skin, lifestyle and age as well as on the degree of perfection desired by the individual. However, we know that for the majority of the patients treated about 50-80% of the effect remains after 6 months. Most people choose to have a touchup done within a year of the original treatment. Clinical studies show that Restylane can offer a high degree of patient satisfaction even up to one year after treatment. Juvederm has shown to last up to one year.
The great thing about dermal fillers is that you can replenish your natural beauty whenever you feel the need. A touchup can be performed any time you like after the previous treatment.

Length
The treatment takes about 30 minutes and the results are visible immediately.

Anesthesia
When treating wrinkles, pain relief is usually not needed but can be easily achieved, with the use of a local numbing cream

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. WHAT IS A DERMAL FILLER?
A. It is a gel that is injected under the skin in order to add volume and lift up the lips, wrinkles and folds. Dermal fillers consist of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance already present in the skin. Once in the skin, Restylane works together with the body´s own hyaluronic acid and joins forces to create volume.

Q. WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID?
A. Some of the functions of hyaluronic acid in the body are creating volume to the skin, giving the eye its shape and lubricate joints.

Q. HOW IS RESTYLANE or JUVEDERM PRODUCED?
A. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane or Juvederm, in contrast to other similar substances, not produced from animals. This means no risk for adverse events.

Q. WHICH AREAS CAN BE TREATED?
A. The most common areas are the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows), the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of the mouth) and the lips but also other sites can be treated. Very superficial or very deep wrinkles may be difficult to correct. Please consult your physician for a judgment.

Q. WHICH RESULT CAN BE OBTAINED FROM A LIP-TREATMENT?
A. The vermilion border can be accentuated and the lips can be given more volume.

Q. WHAT IS TREATMENT WITH RESTYLANE LIKE?
A. A dermal filler treatment is a very easy and quick process. Since no skin testing is needed, the treatment can be made immediately and it takes about 30 minutes. The result is instant. Restylane or Juvederm is injected with a very thin needle under the skin. The same needle used for Botox is used for dermal filler injections.

Q. DO THE INJECTIONS HURT?
A. It is very individually depending on how pain sensitive you are. The injections may prick a little but normally, no anesthesia is needed for treatment of wrinkles and folds. Most people report that the injections are relatively painless. A lip treatment can be uncomfortable and therefore, a nerve block is normally made.

Q. CAN THE MATERIAL BE REMOVED?
A. No, but since Restylane is a natural material it dissolves with time. If you feel insecure about the wanted result, it is possible to make the treatment at different occasions.

Q. IS IT DANGEROUS?
A. Restylane is a safe product. Since hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the body, the skin does not react to the material. With over 100,000 people treated today, only a very small number of reactions have been reported. These reactions may consist of prolonged but temporary redness, swelling, itching or tenderness. Most have lasted for a couple of weeks.

Q. HOW WILL MY SKIN LOOK AFTER THE TREATMENT ?
A. Immediately after the treatment, there may be a slight redness, swelling, tenderness or itching sensation at the treated area. This is only normal cause of the injection and the inconvenience is temporary, it generally goes away in 72 hours. After a lip treatment, the lips may get swollen and look somewhat uneven. This can persist anywhere from several days to a week.

Q. HOW LONG IS THE EFFECT?
A. Restylane eventually disappears completely out of the body. How long the effect of a Restylane treatment lasts is very individual. It depends on many factors such as the structure of the skin, lifestyle and age as well as the degree of perfection warranted by the individual. For the majority of the patients after a wrinkle treatment about 50-80% of the effect remains after 6 months and most people choose to have a touchup treatment done within a year of the original treatment. For lip augmentation, a new treatment is needed after about 6 months.

Q. HOW WILL MY SKIN LOOK WITHOUT "TOUCHUP" TREATMENTS?
A. The correction will gradually disappear until your skin looks like it did before the treatment. Touchup injections will help you maintain your correction.

Dermal fillers(such as Juvederm or Restylane) are long-lasting and crystal-clear gel for filling out lips, facial wrinkles and facial folds. Thanks to Q-Med's stabilization process the hyaluronic acid in Restylane or Juvederm are almost identical to that naturally found in the body and only very slightly modified (0.5 - 1%). Other hyaluronic acid based, injectable implants are often modified by about 20%. This dermal fillers are therefore completely biologically degradable - the body's metabolism of hyaluronic acid corresponds to 200 syringes of dermal fillers per day. The products are also naturally integrated into the tissue, thus allowing important nutritive agents to pass freely through the implant and cells to pass between fragments of the gel.

Procedure
The dermal fillers are injected into the dermis and provides volume where the concentration of the body's own hyaluronic acid has decreased. One treatment session takes about 30 minutes. The results can be seen immediately and no scars or other marks are left on the face. Even though the treated area can swell up somewhat and be red for up to one day afterwards, it is quite possible to meet other people and work as normal. The patented stabilization method means that both Restylane and Juvederm have a longer-lasting effect than competing preparations.

Recovery
Immediately after the treatment the treated area can be slightly swollen and red. This is a normal result of the injection, and it generally goes away in 72 hours.
